How to calculate how much electricity a solar panel generates in a day?

How many kilowatt hours of electricity can solar panels generate in a day?

For example, a 100W solar panel has a maximum current of 5.5A and a voltage of around 18V. It receives about 8 hours of sunlight per day, but the current may be very low in the morning and evening and cannot reach the full power of 5.5A.

So we calculate that the effective sunlight for a day is around 4 hours, which can be found online for each region. Therefore, multiplying 100W of full power by 4 hours results in a total power generation of around 400W, which is 0.4 kWh.

Several factors affecting solar panel power generation:

Installing photovoltaic panels requires adjusting the angle and direction to fully receive sunlight and perform its best function. If installed improperly, it will affect the efficiency of power generation.

For example, your area has been experiencing extreme weather for many years, such as rain, snow, smog, sandstorms, etc., where the sun cannot be seen, and even the best photovoltaic panels cannot generate electricity.

If low-quality cables and other circuits are used, electric leakage may occur. No matter how much power is generated, it is useless and accidents are prone to occur. This shows the importance of materials.

Solar panels should be cleaned regularly. For example, if there is a big tree or a tall house near a photovoltaic panel, and the total light is not enough for a few hours, how can it fully generate electricity.

That’s a matter of location. Alternatively, due to the strong sandstorms in the area, only solar panels were installed without careful maintenance, and the panels were covered in dust, making it impossible to generate sufficient electricity.

According to the laboratory results of solar panel shading, not to mention large blocks of shading, the shadow caused by a few leaves and a wire above the power station may reduce the power generation of the solar panel by more than half, or even fail to generate electricity at all.
